All Other Subjects Should Follow, Not Lead...

All other subjects should follow, Not Lead

Our intentions are good. We strive to raise well rounded children who will blossom into successful adults.

We worry.

We plan, we research, we schedule...

We worry some more...

Are we doing enough math? Are we reading and writing enough? What if I forget something? Are we in enough activities? What about art? We definitely don't do enough art...
.

We doubt.

We begin to doubt the strengths we were blessed with, and in turn, we lean on the very lies trying to hide them.

I truly believe that God has equipped us for this homeschool journey.  He knows our hearts.  He knows our worries, doubts and fears.  He wants to take those fruitless thoughts away from us and in return give us peace.  1 Peter 5:7 tells us to,

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

Philippians 4:6 tells us,

“Do not be anxious [do not worry] about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

What if we put praying with our children, reading the Bible with them, teaching and learning together about God's love on the TOP of the daily "to do" list?  When planning our days with our children, shouldn't studying the Bible with them come before anything else?  Is there anything else more important?  No.

As parents, our intentions are good, but the world tends to tell us math scores are more important than Bible time...and it's easy to fall into the trap of believing this.

Of course math, along with all other subjects are very important.  We, as homeschooling parents have a duty to teach them.  We have a duty to give our children a well rounded education.

But, we also have a duty to teach those precious little children about their father in heaven.  Those precious little souls are in our hands.  That, should come before anything else...
